Standing on what too long we bore
With shoulders bent and downcast eyes,
We may discern - unseen before -
    A path to higher destinies.
    Nor doom the irrevocable Past,
    As wholly wasted, wholly vain,
If, rising on its wrecks, at last
    To something nobler we attain.

    Longfellow
THE BAFFLING CALL OF GOD
And all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of Man shall be accomplished ... And they understood none of these things.Luke 18:31,34
God called Jesus Christ to what seemed unmitigated disaster. Jesus Christ called His disciples to see Him put to death; He led every one of them to the place where their hearts were broken. Jesus Christ's life was an absolute failure from every standpoint but God's. But what seemed failure from man's standpoint was a tremendous triumph from God's, because God's purpose is never man's purpose.
There comes the baffling call of God in our lives also. The call of God can never be stated explicitly; it is implicit. The call of God is like the call of the sea, no one hears it but the one who has the nature of the sea in him. It cannot be stated definitely what the call of God is, because His call is to be in comradeship with Himself for His own purposes, and the test is to believe that God knows what He is after. The things that happen do not happen by chance, they happen entirely in the decree of God. God is working out His purposes.
If we are in communion with God and recognize that He is taking us into His purposes, we will no longer try to find out what His purposes are. As we go on in the Christian life it gets simpler, because we are less inclined to say - Now why did God allow this and that? Behind the whole thing lies the compelling of God. "There's a divinity that shapes our ends." A Christian is one who trusts the wits and the wisdom of God, and not his own. If we have a purpose of our own, it destroys the simplicity and the leisureliness which ought to characterize the children of God..... Oswald Chambers

What do you see my dear son?

I know it must be beautiful
I know that just seeing Jesus face to face
must be most wonderful of all!

If I could see what you see

would I cry at night missing you?

would I feel so sad that your gone?

would my heart still feel like someone wont let it go?

no tears, no pain, no fear, no disease,

I'd understand why God took you Michael...
If I could see what you see .

When All Is Said and Done
Geoff Moore

When the music fades into the past
when my days of life are through
What will be remembered of where I've come
when all is said and done

Will they say I loved my family
that I was a faithful friend
That I lived to tell of God's own Son
when all is said and done

How I longed to see the hour
when I would hear that trumpet sound
Rise to see my Savior's face
see Him smile and say well done

You can forget my name and the songs I've sung
every rhyme and every tune
But remember the truth of Jesus' love
when all is said and done

When all is said and done

Necessary Pain
by Dogs of peace

Verse 2
We can't ignore that we're more
than just victums of circumstance
He sees it all when we fall
It is given to more than just chance
One eye is on the sparrow,
The other in the center of a hurricane.

We all must deal with days of nessessary pain
Tomorrow's healing comes, leaving the knowledge gained

We all must deal with days of nessessary pain
Tomorrow's healing comes, leaving the knowledge gained

I found this song on a CD of Michael's. I have been listening to his CDs that he loved so much. There are some very good songs on this CD, this song made me feel that it must have helped him deal with all the pain he had all the time due to the brain tumor.

My Mom Is A Survivor

My Mom is a survivor,
or so I've heard it said.
But I can hear her crying at night
when all others are in bed.

I watch her lay awake at night
and go to hold her hand.
She doesn't know I'm with her
to help her understand.

But like the sands on the beach
that never wash away...
I watch over my surviving mom,
who thinks of me each day.

She wears a smile for others...
a smile of disguise!
But through Heaven's door I see
tears flowing from her eyes.

My mom tries to cope with death
to keep my memory alive.
But anyone who knows her knows
it is her way to survive.

As I watch over my surviving mom
through Heaven's open door...
I try to tell her that angels
protect me forevermore.

I know that doesn't help her...
or ease the burden she bears.
So if you get a chance, go visit her...
and show her that you care.

For no matter what she says...
no matter what she feels.
My surviving mom has a broken heart
that time won't ever heal.

Dedicated to the mothers who have
lost a child & have somehow survived.)

Your Compassionate Friend

I can tell by that look friend, that we need to talk.
So come take my hand and let's go for a walk.
See, I'm not like the others - I won't shy away,
Because I want to hear what you've got to say.

Your child has died and you need to be heard,
But they don't want to hear a single word.
They say your child's with God, so be strong,
They say all the "right" things that somehow seem wrong.

I'll walk in your shoes for more than a mile,
I'll wait while you cry and be glad if you smile.
I won't criticize you or judge you or scorn,
I'll just stay and listen 'til night turns to morn.

Yes, the journey is hard and unbearably long.
And I know that you think that you're not quite that strong,
So just take my hand 'cause I've got time to spare,
And I know how it hurts, friend, for I have been there.

See, I owe a debt you can help me repay,
For not long ago, I was helped the same way.
And I stumbled and fell through a world so unreal,
So believe when I say that I know how you feel.

I don't look for praise or financial gain
And I'm sure not the kind who gets joy out of pain,
I'm just a strong shoulder who'll be here 'til the end -
I'll be your Compassionate Friend.
