Michael Anthony Spooner
September 23, 1980 - September 17, 2001

We Love YOU!

Michael is a very special young man. He always put others first,
He is always considerate of others and concerned for others.
Even when he was told he had a rare kind of cancer
The first thing he said was "Are you OK Mom?"

Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His Saints. Ps. 116:15

(from Michael's memorial service)
Michael Anthony was born
in Kansas City and lived his first
six years in Grandview
before moving to Harrisonville in 1986.

After nine years of home schooling,
he entered Harrisonville High School
and graduated from there in 1999.

While working on his collegiate studies
at Longview Community College,
Michael worked as a Wal-Mart associate
where he was know for his helpful attitude.

His many involvements throughout
the years include
Cornerstone Community Church,
Kansas City Youth for Christ,
Cedar Ridge Church
and Awana Club.

Michael will be fondly remembered
for his easy-going temperament
and wonderful sense of humor.

He enjoyed cooking with a gourmet flair
and mastering the many
Sim computer games.
His fun-loving spirit could be seen in
his enjoyment of Veggie Tales
and dressing in wacky costumes.

Michael’s artistic talents were
expressed in sculpture, drawing
and creating beaded hemp jewelry.
His paintings received awards at
the county art show.

He loved music, attending music concerts
and collecting nearly 200 Christian CD’s!

Michael was a very special young man.
He was marked by a compassion
for people and it was seen in all he did.

He will be remembered as a good son,
brother. and friend.
He was a willing servant of Christ
volunteering at his church and
serving six summers as a
teen staffer at Circle C camp.

Super Mike
Michael demonstrated a concern
for the welfare of others
and looked to their interests first.
He remained steadfast even
when his life was difficult.
His life may have been short in years,
but it will be long in affect as
he touched the lives of so many!

A memorial fund has been set up
in Michael’s honor at Circle C Camp.
Donations will go towards scholarships
to provide opportunities for more youth
to attend this fine Christian camp.
If you wish to make a contribution,
please send it to:

  • All the kids, however you can't see Kitty,
As Jessica leans forward to stop Christian
from poking Scotty in the eye,
    Kitty falls off Jessica's lap.
You can see her hair behind Michael,
Looks like part of Michael's hair. '99

So here's one with Kitty and her big bobo '97

My older loves, Daddy in the middle. '95

What do you see my dear son?

I know it must be beautiful
I know that just seeing Jesus face to face
must be most wonderful of all!

If I could see what you see

would I cry at night missing you?

would I feel so sad that your gone?

would my heart still feel like someone wont let it go?

no tears, no pain, no fear, no disease,

I'd understand why God took you Michael...
If I could see what you see .

      Love your mother
